5 student startups win funding in Inc.U Competition
Student startup Bindr, a dating app that provides a safe space online for bisexual individuals, won $15,000, the largest prize amount, in the 2023 Invent Penn State Inc.U Competition. The competition, part of Penn State Startup Week powered by PNC, saw six Penn State student teams pitch their startups to a panel of judges and compete for up to $30,000 in funding.
Rapid prototyping and fabrication space OriginLabs to open during Startup Week
Invent Penn State’s all-new rapid prototyping and fabrication space, OriginLabs, is set to officially open its doors to the public on Wednesday, March 22, during Penn State Startup Week powered by PNC.
Fifth day of Startup Week themed ‘Explore PA Entrepreneurship’
The fifth day of Startup Week, Friday, March 24, is themed “Explore PA Entrepreneurship” and will feature events such as a trip to learn about natural resource-based entrepreneurship and a student entrepreneur marketplace.

The fourth day of Startup Week, Thursday, March 23, is themed “Female Entrepreneurs of Color” and will include events such as a talk about learning to trust oneself throughout entrepreneurship, and an after-hours concert.
Third day of Startup Week themed ‘Social Impact’
The third day of Startup Week powered by PNC, Wednesday, March 22, is themed Social Impact, and will include events such as creating your own upcycled fashion brand and a talk with a former professional football player on his path to activism.

In the latest episode of Invent Penn State’s “Dare to Disrupt” podcast, host Ryan Newman interviews Garry Gilliam, former Nittany Lion football standout, NFL player, and founder and CEO of The Bridge Eco-Village. Gilliam graduated from Penn State in 2013 with degrees in business development, psychology and advertising.
Startup Week to kick off with free food giveaway on March 20
The Rolling Lion food truck will be giving away free loaded nachos and beverages courtesy of Penn State Startup Week powered by PNC from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 20. The truck will be parked behind Carnegie Building across from Willard Building on the University Park campus.
