Penn State New Kensington’s Digital Foundry selected as regional makerspace
The Digital Foundry at New Kensington has been selected as one of four regional makerspaces through southwestern Pennsylvania’s winning federal Build Back Better grant initiative. The ARM Institute announced the $1.5 million award to the Digital Foundry as part of southwestern Pennsylvania’s “New Economy Collaborative.”

Penn State soil science doctoral candidate launches soil-based paint startup
Zoelie Rivera-Ocasio, a soil sciences and biogeochemistry doctoral candidate in the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State, launched Zoils & Pigments, a startup manufacturing soil-based paints such as watercolors, gouache and crayons, with the assistance of Happy Valley LaunchBox powered by PNC Bank’s FastTrack Accelerator program.
