Penn State research-based startup completes NSF I-Corps National Teams program

Through his software startup Lightscline, Penn State industrial engineering doctoral candidate and Diefenderfer Graduate Fellow in Entrepreneurship Ankur Verma is developing a patent-pending AI-based software that will significantly reduce the amount of data collected by devices such as drones and satellites.

Berks LaunchBox receives $53K grant from County of Berks for equipment

The Berks LaunchBox powered by Penn State recently received a $53,000 grant from the County of Berks. Working with Furniture Soup, Berks LaunchBox will use most of the funding to revamp the coworking space with new desks, storage and sound dampening, and to add a small meeting space for entrepreneurs to work collaboratively, as well as other purposes.

Invent Penn State offers students $15,000 to work on startup over the summer

Applications are now open for the 2023 Invent Penn State Summer Founders Program, which provides a $15,000 grant to entrepreneurial teams with at least one Penn State student to work full-time on their startup, social good or nonprofit over the summer. Applications are due March 9.

Penn State alumni Tyler Tracey and Ben Johnson launched elevated barber wear startup SLCKR in January 2021. They were able to grow their business through the Invent Penn State Summer Founders Program. Two years later, SLCKR ended 2022 with more than $140,000 in sales.
