Venture & IP Conference panel to highlight venture growth during COVID-19

“The State of Venture and Growth Capital in the COVID-19 Era” panel during the Invent Penn State Venture & IP Conference will explore the effects of COVID-19 on venture and growth investing and its outlook through 2021. Taking place virtually from 1:45-2:35 p.m. on April 15, the panel also will examine important investment lessons learned because of the pandemic.

The “Investing in Rural & Heartland America” panel during the Invent Penn State Venture & IP Conference will examine how funds dedicated to strategic investment in heartland and rural innovation are overcoming geographic barriers and supporting investors in small markets. The panel session will take place from 12:45-1:35 p.m. on April 15.

Penn State’s best and brightest student entrepreneurs are set to take the stage at the all-virtual 2021 Invent Penn State Venture & IP Conference. The conference begins April 15 with a showcase featuring eight student teams sharing how their startups are having a positive impact on the world and have grown thanks to the Invent Penn State entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Students from around the world participate in a virtual version of HackPSU

The COVID-19 pandemic did not stop 644 students from around the world from participating in a virtual version of HackPSU. The 48-hour hackathon was held entirely online for 45 teams of students, some as close as University Park and others as far as West Bengal, India. One of the winning teams of a sponsor challenge competed in the Nittany AI Mini Challenge, facilitated by the Nittany AI Alliance—a service of Penn State Outreach—where they were charged with creating a solution using artificial intelligence for good in the areas of education, environment, health and/or humanitarianism.

Alumni couple supports disability-focused entrepreneurship at Penn State

Penn State alumni Robert and Linda Malecky have pledged a gift of $125,000 to support the Summer Founders program, a thirteen-week entrepreneurial bootcamp.
