Connecting community and fostering entrepreneurship through design
Penn State architecture alumni Jason E. Smith and Marilia Rodrigues, of Philadelphia’s KieranTimberlake, were design leads on the new Innovation Hub building in downtown State College, and say the building is designed to instill a feeling of opportunity, of collaborative making, of being a part of something bigger than oneself.

Biotech company selects Innovation Park for expansion
A decade after its founding, local biotech company BioMagnetic Solutions will move into a new facility at Penn State’s Innovation Park. The company was acquired in early 2021 by Gamma Biosciences, a global life sciences company focused on advanced therapies.

Third episode of 'Dare to Disrupt' features alum, brand consultant Jess Weiner
In the third episode of the “Dare to Disrupt” podcast, alumnus Ryan Newman interviews Jess Weiner, a 1995 College of Arts and Architecture graduate. She describes how she got into social justice while at Penn State and how she uses her theater training from Penn State to succeed with her clients at her brand consultancy, Talk to Jess. Weiner has been a strategic partner in culture-changing moments such as Dove’s campaign for “Real Beauty” and the evolution of Barbie.

Penn State Law’s Entrepreneur Assistance Clinic launches outreach program
This fall, the Penn State Law Entrepreneur Assistance Clinic (EAC) launched an Underserved Small Businesses legal services program, which targets entrepreneurs who are generally categorized as socially and economically disadvantaged. The program is an extension of the existing EAC program, adding targeted educational outreach to qualifying entrepreneurs including people of color, women, people with disabilities, veterans, rural residents, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Penn State ranked among top schools for undergraduate entrepreneurship
Penn State has been ranked as the No. 21 school for undergraduate entrepreneurship studies in the United States by The Princeton Review in its annual ratings of the top schools for entrepreneurship studies. Among schools in the Northeast, Penn State came in at No. 5.
