Happy Valley LaunchBox powered by PNC Bank is accepting applications for its virtual Idea TestLab starting Aug. 31 and in-person FastTrack Accelerator beginning Aug. 23. Both programs provide University and community entrepreneurs with the resources and skills they need to turn their idea into a scalable business. The deadline for Idea Test Lab applications is Sept. 21 and the deadline for FastTrack Accelerator applications is Nov. 1.

Winning startup works to increase speed to market for some pharmaceuticals
Brad Rogers, alongside his colleagues at the Penn State Eberly College of Science, Paul Cremer and Tinglu Yang, developed an industry-disruptive temperature device allowing for faster and more accurate stability screening for scientists. They hope it will enable them to accelerate and improve predictions associated with biopharmaceutical shelf-life and, ultimately, reduce biologic drug failure by up to 25%.

Their startup, GradienTº, was recognized at the recent spring 2021 virtual Invent Penn State Tech Tournament, where it took second place and a cash award of $50,000.

David and Deborah Ross establish endowment for North Central PA LaunchBox
Longtime campus supporters David and Deborah Ross have established a new endowment that will support efforts of the North Central PA LaunchBox powered by Penn State DuBois. The Dr. David S. and Deborah M. Ross LaunchBox Endowment at Penn State DuBois was established with the couple’s initial $100,000 pledge, and Penn State will match that amount, resulting in a $200,000 endowment supporting the LaunchBox.
