The Brand Academy
The Brand Academy is a joint initiative between Invent Penn State and Intercollegiate Athletics, made possible by a $2.5 million anonymous gift through the Wally Triplett Brand Academy Endowment.
This program empowers student-athletes to build, manage, and grow their personal brands through hands-on learning, mentorship, and entrepreneurial resources—preparing them to lead with purpose in their careers and communities beyond Penn State.
Spotlight Athlete
Meet our first Spotlight Student-Athlete: Ritam Malik
Ritam is a member of the Penn State Men’s Gymnastics team and has been committed to growing his brand and attending The Brand Academy educational sessions. We look forward to seeing the enhancement of his brand during his career at Penn State.
“The Brand Academy has been extremely helpful in guiding me to build my brand and opening up opportunities I wouldn’t have found on my own. I’d recommend it to every student-athlete looking to grow their brand, especially since we have free access to something this valuable.” – Ritam Malik

Mission & Vision
The Brand Academy empowers Penn State student-athletes to build authentic, lasting personal brands through education, mentorship, and hands-on experiences.
We provide access to high-impact programming that strengthens leadership, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial confidence—focusing on personal brand development, social media presence, financial literacy, and media training.
The Brand Academy also fosters valuable connections with alumni, industry leaders, and the broader Penn State community to help student-athletes achieve long-term success beyond their time on campus.
Female student-athletes come together for hands-on workshops focused on entrepreneurship, branding, and building community.
Academy Leadership
Dr. Omar X. Easy—a former Penn State football standout, NFL running back, and seasoned educator—serves as the inaugural Director of The Brand Academy.
He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Penn State and brings years of leadership experience as a school administrator, including superintendent. Dr. Easy combines his academic expertise and athletic background to help student-athletes build meaningful, lasting personal brands and prepare for success beyond sports.
