Veteran Business Outreach Center at Penn State
The Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) at Penn State provides entrepreneurial development services to veterans, active duty service members, National Guard members, Reservists, and military spouses. Our goal is to empower veteran entrepreneurs and small business owners with the tools and resources needed to succeed.
Programs
Boots to Business – Boots to Business is a training program provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This program is available to transitioning service members (including National Guard and Reserve) and their spouses at military installations worldwide. Participants are introduced to the skills, knowledge, and resources they need to launch a business, including steps for developing business concepts, how to develop a business plan, and information on SBA resources available to help.
Boots to Business Reboot – Boots to Business Reboot, brought to you by the SBA and its resource partners, makes the Boots to Business course available in local communities. This extends access to veterans from all eras, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses.
Services
VBOC at Penn State offers comprehensive business training and workshops covering topics such as business planning, financing, marketing (including social media), and human resources management.
Additionally, we can provide essential tools and referrals, connecting entrepreneurs with mentors, other relevant programs, and SBA lending institutions. We can help you get access to market research databases and assists with applications for federal contracting certifications, ensuring veteran entrepreneurs are equipped with the resources they need to succeed.
