Governor proposes 5% funding increase for Penn State
During his annual budget address on Tuesday, Feb. 8, Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf unveiled a proposed state budget for 2022-23 that includes a 5% funding increase for Penn State, in addition to $2.35 million in new funding for Invent Penn State, a program focused on driving economic development and entrepreneurship across the state.

Penn State-affiliated startup spotLESS Materials, which sells its super slippery coating technology as an assistive cleaning product, has raised more than $1.3 million of total venture capital funding to date, including $900,000 in a seed round that closed on Dec. 23, 2021. Students can receive $15,000 to work on their startup this summer
Applications are now open for the Invent Penn State Summer Founders program, which provides a $15,000 grant to entrepreneurial teams with at least one Penn State student to work full time on their startup, social good or nonprofit over the summer. Applications are due Feb. 13.
