The current 911 emergency response system in the United States was developed in 1968 for landline telephones, which were tied to specific addresses. Now, with most people in the United States making 911 calls from cellular devices, the outdated 911 system often does not provide an accurate location of the person in need.

PNC Foundation gifts Penn State and Penn State Health $2 million

$1.5 million grant to expand Behrend lab and Innovation Beehive Network
The Appalachian Regional Commission has awarded $1.5 million to the Northwest Pennsylvania Innovation Beehive Network, which includes Penn State Behrend’s Innovation Commons. The Beehive sites provide entrepreneurial support and business guidance to companies and inventors in 17 counties.
